IBEW Local 1600

When we first spoke with IBEW Local 1600, their site hadn’t been updated in over a year. Every change meant hiring a developer. They wanted a modern design, and control of their own site back.

The task

A digital modernization to improve IBEW 1600’s look and feel, overall user experience and professionalism. The new site needed to be easy to edit, work on mobile, tablet and desktop, and follow modern web trends with a cohesive theme throughout.

Strategy

The old site was full of dead links, plus links buried so deep nobody had ever found them. Our IA brought the most important links forward and built an architecture that leads members straight to what they’re looking for.

User experience

We turned what we learned in strategy into high-fidelity wireframes covering users, personas and their goals. They set the exact layout, typography and functionality and served as the 1:1 blueprint for design.

Interface design

We skinned the wireframes with color, type and imagery and refined them with the client over several rounds. The goal was something functional that also met their goals and objectives.

Development

A fully custom WordPress build that’s easy to use on the front end, with a custom back end so IBEW’s team can add, edit and remove content without calling a developer.
